I have a traditional version MTH Presidents Special that I'm probably going to put on "the bay" as I've seen some here call it. I did runs the cars for maybe 10-15 minutes run time. I have not run the "Commander traditional loco. I have all the boxes & foam etc. I can't find my new catalog that has the red one in it, to go by. I know I can't ask that, but the money is going towards buying some 6 wheel motors for my 4-6-4 600E project. I'm thinking $1,200 buy-it-now. Or should I sell the cars and the loco in seperate listings? I'm not a big seller. So just an estimate will help. I do want to move it. I do know that there seems to me that there's psycological effect that buy-it-now has. I bought a really nice all original 385E for $279.00 buy-it-now. That was a deal! But, it just sat there for a day or two. Then I do a search and see an auction type listing for a repainted junker one starting $1.00, and they fight it up to $550.00!

If I split the set, should I ask $650.00 OBO for the loco and $800.00 OBO ($200 per car) for the car set? It sure is a different train world today. I couldn't have imagined getting those cars for $200 each 20 years ago. And today steel and all metal is way high. I weld & machine. Nobody can afford the buy basic angle iron, flat bar or channel. Everybody sees the gold prices, but the big picture in all metals prices is scary. Somebody throw some advice my way. I'm going under the layout and start digging out the boxes. They're always on the bottom at the very end!
Bill,
Did you get my email? I guess you're not interested? I can buy this evening if we can agree on a price. Let me know.

Yes, I replied this morning. Mybe it went in your spam file. I did list it on "the bay" for a high start and see if anything sticks. I can already see that building trains is going to be very expensive. I will have to sell my complete Presidents Special set just to pay for 2 motors. I'm still pondering how I'm going to move a bridgeport mill? It is a variable speed 3 HP full size model with auto-oiler pump and factory power feed. I paid $700! It's like everything has been turned upside down!
I see your post on the bay. Just a bit out of my range Best of luck with your new project!
