I also use Excelle.  I just went over an engine that I had not operated in many years and the operation was smooth.  It also removed a squeak that existed.

The bottles are very well designed and give great access and give some of the best control I can remember when squeezing out some lubricant.

I use Bosch Purple Grease (p/n 1 615 430 001 or 1 615 430 005) which was originally produced for use in Bosch power tools (hammer drills, etc.), but has found a following among the R/C Helicopter folks. I apply it with a toothpick, rotating the gears to insure complete coverage. It can be found at most Bosch power tool distributors and Fastenall outlets as well as on the internet.

It lasts between 10 to over 15 years for each application.

I prefer Lucas' Red N' Tacky #2  in gears and like. Lucas' gun oil works wonders on everything that requires a light lubricant. Lucas Oil Products stay where you need it.

Red N Tacky in the gearbox, greased the gearboxes of all of my locos when I bought them. I don't think I'll ever have to again.

Labelle 102 for drive rods and axle bushings, its a thicker "light" oil, more suitable for O guage and it stays where its put. Because of that, Re-oiling is seldom needed.

Got in big trouble in the first grade for that! Teacher asked "what is 3 'n 1". My answer; oil. Straight to the Principal's office, called my parents, and then home for a whooping. They thought I was just being a smart a#@. I was serious.

Red 'n Tacky. Get the grease sized gun tube, and your set for life.

Lubriplate Aero for grease. For oil Ive been using "Reel Butter" (fishing) on some for the last few years. I like it well enough so far. Boing's pricy Boeshield T-9, dry film spray lubricant is the most incredible general lube/protectant ever, but Im out, and Ive never actually put it on a train yet. My penetrating oil, it must be Aerokroil to work smarter, not harder.

Any automotive store...picked mine up at NAPA.

Worst case, you can also buy it online at dozens of places just "google" Lucas Red N Tacky.

You can get it at amazon as well.
