I remember seeing one of these on a siding for months when I was younger, then it disappeared. Anyone know what it was used for? Who made these? Pictures come from my home town. Look like an early Mini-GG1 car.

Yoiks! That's bizzare looking.
A prehistoric relative of today's Trackmobile. It's for industries that don't want, need or can afford a locomotive to shuffle freight cars around as needed.

Thanks, that explains it. The siding was by our farm, just outside the town of Momence.
For Pete's sake... Don't send this to Lionel or MTH!!!! We'll have 20 'Heritage' variations of it in the next catalog!!!
I'd buy one!
I'd buy one!
Here to. I like the bus.
There was one of these "THINGS" sitting in a scrap yard off the east side of Catlin Ave. in Superior, WI. in 1995 when we were there rebuilding the Soo Line #1003 the first time. I haven't seen it since 1997 and wonder how it could have escaped preservation by the Duluth Museum.
Anyone have a current report?

Can I get both UP and ATSF versions, please?
Hmmm, Built by Evans Product Company, almost all of had a Lionel EVANS Auto Loader on our layout. Of course the real car carried 6 autos.
