Today I bought a Lionel #990 Legacy Control System from my local train store and it currently has the v1.5 software. After some help from this forum earlier, I found out that the new Legacy engines are compatible with the older software. My question is what is the newest version of software, where can I find it on Lionel’s website, and what do I need/how to install it into the Control System? Thanks!

I’m going to update my Legacy cab and base. Just watched Eric’s Trains 2017 how to video ( which is great) but I wanted to if now, in 2023, is this video still correct? I am going to buy the Wi-Fi module, do I;                                   -still need that black rewritable module.                                              -can I go right to legacy 2.0 ( I’m at 1.6?

Thanks, I can’t change the marker lights on my 4-6-0 from 2020

There is no Legacy 2.0.  The current versions of the Legacy #990 software are BASE 1.60 and CAB2 1.72.  The update procedure is exactly the same for any version.  You can update any system yourself that's at 1.20 or later.  You need 1.30 on the base to have it write modules.  You can update to any version from another subject to the previous restrictions, and you can downgrade if there's some specific issue you have with a version.
