I wake up a little early every morning to give my self time to get ready for the day's chores!

Grind Fresh Colombian coffee beans, Make some heavy duty Espresso Black Coffee, Foam up some full fat Organic milk, Light up a well aged Cigar; and last but not least.......see and Listen to Four cylinders, see four smoke units, watch 16 drivers and monitor the load on a Centipede tender, crawling up and down my bedroom 12 ft of track and reading OGR.......LG (life is good). Gets me ready to deal with the day's idiosyncrasies.

I don't want to wake my wife early in the morning when I am up, so I don't run trains (the mainline goes right over our bedroom), but I do love a good cup of coffee and my workshop, where I have the TV on to some morning "piffle show" with the weather, the local news and all the pet stories, etc., while I work on this project or that.  Peaceful and just a great way to start are day.

so you see my posts every morning since I post about 1 am every night LOL

I have created a collection of OGR members that I have developed a level of respect for their ingenuity, craftsmanship and word skills, so I follow them and receive their comments via email. I awake early, grab some coffee and open my tablet and check their emails.  The list is pretty varied and I think this gives me a good sense of what is "trending" on the forum.  My big interests are real trains, scenery, for sale and, of course, traditional 3rail.  It is a great way to start my day because I have met many of these members and learned so much from them.  In many ways they have become very good friends.

Five to seven days a week by 6:30 AM I'm in the water at the gym for a 1 mile to 1 1/4 mile swim and then its spinning class for another 25 miles.  After that its back home for a light breakfast, a cup of white tea and then winding down on the OGR forum.  This has been my routine for almost 15 years now.

Early morning starts at 5:20 AM with letting the 3 dogs out for their morning constitutionals. Then, if the wife is working, making her coffee.  Check email and Forum overnight action.  Then a mouthful of pills accompanied with 9 ounces of OJ.  Later, about 7:00 am is either coffee or a morning matcha  tea ritual.  Later, some work to be done, feed the dogs their breakfast, and perhaps some toast and more coffee.

So, the day proceeds from there.  Either chores and some outside work and on and on.  Nothing actually pressing, I'm retired, so my days are my own to do with as I see or deem fit.  Like the appliance company, LG, life's good.

Interesting original post, hope it lasts.  Good insights to each others life snippets.

Wake up, shower, cook some eggs out the door at 6 to grab the subway. I read my book on the train (Usually some Sci Fi but currently Game of  Throwns). If I take the B train I get my coffee at the cheap coffee cart on Broadway  $1 for coffee and a donut and I talk to the guy about the weather if he doesnt have it ready for me. If I run a few minutes late I take the the C train and go to Dunkin Donuts for overpriced coffee and donuts from people who never remember me or what I want. Then I walk a few blocks, eat my food, finish my chapter and start work.

It depends on my work schedule.  If I'm scheduled to fire our locomotives, then I'm up at 5 and clock into work by 6:30 to get the locomotive ready for the first train which departs the station at 9:45, if I'm scheduled to run then I wake up at 5:30 to be at work by 7:30 to ready the locomotive and train for service.  Usually I eat breakfast and drink coffee while checking in on forums before I head off to work.

I get up, turn on the computer and the TV in my office, go to kitchen, fix a cup of

coffee with instant Nescafe Tasters Choice French Roast, with 1 1/2-2 scoops in a

Marx logoed coffee cup, then fix raisin bran, half a grapefruit, add a cheese danish,

and carry it all back to the office where I sit at my desk, watching the news while

paging through the Bay before opening the forum.  UNLESS, it is a weekend, something

is planned, and maybe it is a brunch out.

Until a few months ago and for the last several years, it was get up in time to make a 7:00 am flight to somewhere on Monday. The Tuesday through Thursday routine involved coffee and news in a hotel and then on to meetings or whatever. Friday was a repeat of Monday but in the other direction.

These days it is a cup of coffee at home, check the Forum like many of you, maybe have a quick gander at the layout, catch a few minutes of the news, and then off to the home office. Sometimes lunch is with the layout. I'm not sure how long this will last, but to take a page from McDonalds, "I'm lovin it."

I'm up weekdays around 7:30, grab some tea ( on days when feeling the need to slowly emerge into consciousness ) or a strong coffee ( on day when feeling the need to be catapulted into consciousness ), take a shower, go into the train room and watch trains run as I get dressed ( about 5 - 10 minutes ) Then off to the kitchen for some more tea or coffee, and breakfast ( usually bran cereal with soy milk ).  Then depending on the nature of my work for that day, I'm off to my music studio to warm up ( on days of performances, or rehearsals ) or off to the park for a workout, then to work.

On Sunday mornings, I'm up and in the train room with a cup of tea or coffee, running trains and working on the layout.  For some reason Sunday mornings and playing with trains go together real well for me

Get up....dress .....make a pot of coffee......take my doggie out to do her business.....scan the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette......pore over the baseball box scores....feed my doggie....make breakfast....check the 'net....check this forum....fiddle with whatever is currently on my workbench (locos....paint project...repairs I can handle....repairs I cannot handle.....) ....begin any of several; yard....home.... auto...truck .....or garden chores. Today.....planting a Community Garden for the needy in our area.....

Up at 5:50 and take a hot shower, then drive out and get my wife her morning newspaper. I try not to read it because the liberal editorials will just get my day off to a bad start . Coffee is not a "must" since I gave up smoking. This morning I had breakfast at a diner, and I'm now doing my laundry. My wife will be up by 10am.

Amen to the bit about the press

This morning thing started when I was in college.

Western PA, farm kid, the cows had to be milked before I was off to college, only to get home and milk them again.  Recently, I have got away from the 4:30AM thing.  Milking cows went away, 1971, when I graduated from Clarion State College.   Wasn't such a bad thing, after all these years.   Two brothers, and my sweetest (only) sister also graduated from Clarion, brother Bob, Penn State.  Looking way back, there was no college debt for any of us.  Monumental in today's world.

Call it a morning fix, you can get a lot done, 4:30 AM to 8:00AM.
