What is your most indispensable tool you use for model railroading?

We just now bought a pair with free shipping on the Bay for $10. Good suggestion. 

Preparing for the holiday season, I was all ready to get my vacuum out with it's special attachments to remove dust from the trains sitting on the layout. Then I had the bright idea to try using a Swiffer. It works just fine. While it's title as tool may be questionable, it now is a part of my handy things to use.  

I have at least 3 generations of tools that in my shop that see use, but one little box in the shop is unique --> Bandaids! 

It's tough to single out one tool, but a locking hemostat is very helpful to have on the hobby bench.

Its interesting that many people like magnetic screwdrivers. I don't really care for them. I use a quick-wedge screw holding screwdriver for slotted screws, and something similar (don't recall the name) for Phillips head.

I use a lot of different tools when working on trains, It would be hard to pick out one essential tool.

I can say that I am glad I invested in a press and added accessory tools over time. (often a tool specifically designed for one job turns out to be good for other jobs as well)  My only regret is not getting the outfit earlier.

Sonic screwdriver.

That may be alright for track and such, but a Molenski Univarius, now that's a repair tool. 

It's easy to demagnetize and the wiha drivers don't come that way.  I just like all my screwdrivers magnetized.  Wiha makes a magnetizer / demagnetizer you can run the screwdriver through to restrengthen or take it away.

All of my tools really work in harmony with one another, but I do have a dental tool that has been the most unique to changing traction tires and also cleaning the groove of the wheel. I also use brown jersey gloves so that the oils on my fingers don't mess up the sides of what I'm handling around on the layout.
