First time seeing the picture of the box.  I'm surprised it based on the "Next Generation" series.  I think the first generation with Kirk would have done better.

The horn/whistle is transmitted over radio freqs (or whatever faster than light system in use) that are picked up by the other ship's communications.  Even in the future, the horn/whistle is still considered the fastest way to get someone's attention.  Only used intra-solar system where it is more crowded.

"So to be authentic as the box promises, you should press the horn and bell buttons and hear nothing.

Best answer.

TNG was very good. The original was...not, though it did serve a purpose. I'm 72, so I remember it when it was launched. I don't recall even liking it enough to watch the 3rd season, but, to be honest, I was a young adult, in college, and TV was irrelevant. Always been a sci-fi guy, though. I think that the Original didn't earn its major fan base until the next generation (not a joke) saw it in re-runs.

If there is no Tribble Transport Car I'm not buyin' it. Lionel can really make out if they keep offering Tribble Cars over and over and over....

Unfortunately that is one of the liberties Star Trek always took.  The sounds in space from the "whoosh" as the Enterprise passed by to the "explosions" in space so any sound it makes is authentic to Star Trek.

"Keep me informed Mr. LaForge!"

And just about every other sci-fi movie or TV series.

If they're going to use anything, it should be phaser sounds for the horn and photo torpedo sounds for the bell.

OMG,  I never thought a clanging bell sound left on could be even more annoying,  but that alert sound takes annoying to a whole other previously unimaginable level.

I do still like the Romulan Ale tank car.

That's why they always turned off the klaxon and went with just the lighting effect.

So far the first thing the engine says after power up is "this is Jean Luc Picard of the Starship Enterprise". Not sure if that's a coincidence or programmed on purpose.  All 3 times I started it from scratch this was the first phrase.

The horn sound needs to be produced by a theremin, or perhaps, the Red Alert sound track.

The bell is the red alert klaxon.  The horn is the transporter sound.  I was hoping for phasers or photon torpedoes but the transporter is more kid friendly I assume.

That being said the pitches can all be adjusted from the LC App.
