Have you checked the New York Central Historical & Technical Society website? That organization has LOTS of information.

I'll have to look at when NYC bought U25Bs. I think it might have been earlier, but the last two issues of "Diesel Age" have a complete history of NYC, NH and PRR U25Bs from original purchase through their entire service to at least Conrail as I recall. I think 1964 was a little late, but a possibility.
Hot Water's suggestion is the best. Join the historical society. I have learned lots from the two I belong too.
According to the web site below, the U25B locomotives were the only power purchased in 1964/.

When did NYC buy their EMD GP30's?
1962.
What about the ALCo C430's? I thought they were the last diesels purchased by the NYC.
