What happened to the food place that ran along the side of the Purple Hall??? I thought I was having a "senior moment" and had forgotten where it was. BTW, I missed Oct. York...was it gone then?

I almost took my iPhone out of my pocket to take a picture, but decided I'd just leave the view up to my memory instead.

I don't recall the place being open in October.  But for those who didn't make it to York this time, all that remains of that great little eatery are the support beams to the pavallion that once was.  Strange to see it that way.

Sodl's (if I am remembering the name correctly) was still there in October.  Their chicken corn chowder was one of my favorite things to eat on the fairgrounds.

It was definitely strange to see that space empty.  They will be missed.

I had a great time and picked a few things I was looking for.  Cattle car with QSI sound board; Trucks with pickup rollers and fast angle wheels;  3 radioactive waste cars 9234, 9389 and 6805; and a 9237 UPS operating boxcar.  Unfortunately, I did not find any K-line Ice Hoppers.

The problem was the stuff I bought that I wasn't looking for: brand new Lionel 8951 FM cab $25; Mobil Oil 9700 boxcar $20; 3 different MTH proto sound layout boxes $7 each; 7 layout DVDs for $15; 4 Williams GP engine shells; 2 complete boxed 3424, one white and one blue LN $45; about 10 pieces of Lionel rolling stock with sprung trucks $10/each; SP F3 w TMCC in black widow scheme for $100; 4 Lionel pw GP shells for repaint $14 total; LN 3370 sheriff and outlaw for $38; UP passenger LN/OB cars for $10 each; MTH Santa Fe SD-45 in Kodak scheme NOS $160; AF bubbling water tower for $7; AF bubbling Oil Derrick for $30; 6 die-cast tow trucks $20; 2 Lionel 253 signals; 4 HH switch tracks with motors for $30; MTH NYC Pacemaker Hopper with disappearing coal load $25.

I was able to cover all the halls in two days and use Saturday to make final buying decisions.  I thought the crowd was slightly smaller than usual but that's expected now that the food vendors next to the purple hall are gone.  If they have another York meet in the October time frame and my admission application gets accepted, then I will be planning to go, Lord willing.
