You might ask, well nothing. All plans to restore it to operation are dead, talk now is for it to become a display piece. Current location, Hobo RR Lincoln, NH. UPDATED 9/13/22!

I recall stumbling across the trainset in 1994, when it was stored in Glen, NH. We were in the Whites hiking and I couldn't believe my eyes.
A lot of sweat effort and money has gone into her. I still have hope the good people of New Hampshire will come to her rescue and finish the job.
What a shame
I’m glad that I read this thread when first posted. Otherwise I would have no idea the train even existed. I was in Lincoln NH today and we stopped in at the Hobo RR expressly so I could see it. They were very friendly at the front counter and were happy to let me go behind the station and look. Very cool and glad I did. But it’s a long way from being display ready.
I agree it is quite sad that the restoration efforts have died. If anyone has a spare $10M dollars laying around, it probably could be successfully completed by a professional restoration shop in a couple of years.
The Mark Twain Zephyr actually has had a more contorted history than the Flying Yankee (I know hard to believe) but finally has appeared to be truly saved, and soon to be operational (hopefully).
These are BIG projects.
The IRM has been working diligently for about the past 10 years, to get their Electroliner fully restored and rolling again. Despite their resources, and successful track record they have, it still has a way to go.
There's a glimmer of hope, read the press release here.
Great news. Thanks Gary.
I always knew she’d get help.
I really hope for the best. I have been following this saga on the internet for years.
It sounds like the new plan, is more sensible and obtainable, than the past plan. Even if they can get it in a "stable location" and undercover it would be a GREAT step forward.
The key to full restoration is going to be to get Volunteers, with the correct skill sets, and time to dedicate to the restoration process. Sounds like the Current Board and the association with the Conway Scenic RR may be a great help in this respect.
As mentioned in my previous post this is a BIG Project. I really would love to see it operate again.
In the meanwhile, the Nebraska Zephyr at the IRM, is at least a "cousin" that we all can enjoy! Plan a trip there if you can! I added video of it here on the forum about a month ago. Pull it down from the Blue Bar above, I titled it E5.
