I have Phillips and slotted screwdrivers #0,1,2, 3 etc and rarely do they fit correctly. So what screwdriver types and sizes do I need? TORX, Pentalobe Security, POSI drive Many of these screws are so soft you need a correct tool to avoid destroying the head.

Most of the screw heads used on trains imported by Lionel and MTH are either Pozidriv or JIS. The two designs are similar and either set of drivers will work much better than Philips drivers. Pozi are much easier to find, but you can get JIS drivers through Amazon and some tool suppliers. Personally, I favor Wiha drivers and I find that Wiha #1 and #0 drivers work on about 90% of train screws. I do have a full set of Japanese-made JIS drivers and I find they fit better on some screws. You can find Pozidriv bits for interchangeable-bit handles and there is even an inexpensive set from Harbor Freight that includes a couple of Pozi bits. Usually they will be marked PZ0, PZ1, etc. instead of PH1, PH0, etc.
I would stay away from using Harbor Freight bits on anything you care about. They aren't made all that well. I find that they will occssionally damage a screwhead (mostly when power driven)
I purchased my Pozidriv screwdrivers from Whila, and my JIS screwdrivers from Amazon. They carry Moody and other brands.
Thanks for the help guys. I will order the whia as well as a couple of these JCI from Amazon as well. I cant even find the JCI at Harbor
Wiha (German) drivers are excellent; Harbor Freight tools mostly JUNK!
You generally get what you pay for.
