Anybody else see a new look for email notifications????
More " improvements "by Crowdstack I guess.

I know. I don't like them either.
Yes I noticed. I like the new format. On another topic Alan Or Rich said Crowdstack pulled an unexpected update. Just like the forced Windows updates! 😄
They changed...
Sometimes, Bob, a little change is a good thing!!!

Not when it is change for change's sake. I always hated the first 6 months after a new program manager came on board.
Ron, Yes, I am glad I am now retired and don’t have to put up with constant change at work any more.
I really like the new format. It stands out from other email notifications and give a preview of the email.

Now someone is talking! The email notification is easier to pick through On a smart phone because the topic is first, then the person’s name.
I like “Changed” I put French’s Classic Yellow Mustard on my “Changed” Makes for a great lunch.

When I open the new format in Gmail, I don't see the senders name. All that appears is the thread title and then the body of the message. I consider that a step backwards. Not everyone accesses the forum with their phone.
The screenshot I posted was from my Samsung phone. It doesn't look any better in Gmail.
What I really miss goes back a few updates, they used to show the content of the post that was liked.
Bob, I do agree completely that I miss the content of the post that was liked. 👍🏻 I guess there is nothing OGR can do other than provide feedback to Crowdstack if they think it is worthwhile to do so.
This appears to be Crowdstack tinkering around because they have nothing better to do. Too much free time on their hands.
Probably time to turn off notifications, they're getting useless anyway.
Agreed Mark. I'm not faulting OGR and the crew at all. I know this is out of their control.
I think Rich's reply says it all.
Well I just received this email notification. So it looks like they are showing content of liked message again! 👍🏻👍🏻 I did copy/paste. I don’t know how to do a screenshot

Your reply to This OGR Magazine Online Forum: Arnold, I agree I really like the format of the OGR Forum. It is very logical, the search function works well if you are willing to spend a little time, and you get notifications of posts in topics of interest. Private messaging works well, and I could go on and on. The design is great in my opinion! Liked by Arnold D. Cribari. |
You received this based on your notification settings. You can adjust your settings or unsubscribe anytime. Please do not reply to this email. |
For what it is worth, you as users can share your thoughts on these changes with Crowdstack as I have in the past. Sometimes they listen, sometimes they don't.

We're, meaning OGRR, is not Crowdstack's only customer.

That's for sure! Even though we have over 20,000 members and serve 8 to 12 million page views per month, we are one of their smaller customers!
However, I think we are their oldest customer. We've been with them for decades. I am in a discussion about that now with the folks at Crowdstack. It is down to only two companies, and I think we're going to win this one.

How come with Rich's last post I hear the fight music from Star Trek?
Yeah, it is not fun. We could grab the rail at my place and drop it on them. It is about 10 feet to 12 feet long. Hardest part would be getting it out of the dirt besides the weight. No idea where it came from, either my grandfather(most likely) or my father and uncle. Could use the shorter piece, I think that is about a foot long.
Hopefully they fix the "I can't see it and it doesn't look like butter" because it is a PITA to try and figure out who or what topic was replied on quickly.
I personally don't care for the change, for some reason the print on the notifications has turned almost to light to read on my android S10.

Nah... I'm hearing the Star Wars Imperial March.
New topics do not contain the name of the poster not do they mention which forum the new topic is on, unless I missed it. This is not desirable particularly in relation to the buy ans sell forums. Not seeing this as an improvement.
FWIW, I like the preview of the topic/reply,
I like the notifications too. If I am being prolific it does tend fill up my Inbox though. OTOH, i do more and more with my phone now-a-days. When I read the synopsis on my phone it does not get reformatted for the width of the phone and so far I have not figured out if there is a way to pan to see the entire message. Maybe Crowd Stack could look into this issue as other notifications I get do recognize the change of width of devices.
The new notifications are about impossible to read on my phone. Please ask them to undo this update. Some of the changes I don't mind, but this one actually reduces the usefulness of the notifications.
The contrast of the lettering to the background is poor at best. It is hard to read on my phone. The screenshot in my OP is from my Galaxy S8.
We (yours truly and Crowdstack Tech Support) are working on this.
The emails should have a white background and black text...like any normal email. Not sure why they don't.
I'm sure it will be right again soon. Just have to tell the monkeys to stop throwing wrenches into the dang thing.

Every upgrade, messes with something else. I can still remember the days when there were no processors of any kind in all the electronic equipment at work. In those days, we had to worry about vacuum tubes burning out or a surge wiping out a solid state component. And yes, I have actually found literal bugs stuck between relay contacts!! Moral of the story: "It's always something!!"
Bugs and spiders in outdoor contactors.....UGHHHH.
Try and explain that one to a customer as you hand them a bill for $150.00
Thanks again @Rich Melvin for all your hard work (courtesy of crowdstack)
Bob
Amen to that, Bob!! Thank you very much, @Rich Melvin!!!!
