A backdrop of Masonite would help with the overall layout - or just paint the walls a sky blue. Good to do this before getting all of the detail on the table.

The center area in front of the retaining wall would have been a good area for an access hatch. It would make doing any scenery work or track work much easier.

Ok, now the hilltop...not knowing your overall theme makes it difficult to suggest what to do with that area. So, in absence of that information, the first thought that came to mind was an airport. The Plasticville hanger and admin building -a runway - some small planes or helicopters - a small passenger station - a beacon tower - a water tower

There was a good airport thread recently that you could look at and see how you feel about it and get some ideas.

Just add the .rrt file like the photos. I would like to see the left side of the layout and hear your thoughts on theme.

To add a little more info it's s modern day layout   I have plans for a backdrop   Mainly just want to add a switch or 2 for more track industry   Should I change the shape of the track?   The airport was a good idea but I'm not really into plasticville. I like true scale   Thanks for the ideas so far.  I'm going to add some blue foam to get rid of the flat top look   Thanks again guys

Well, I suggested an airport because the hilltop is isolated from the rest of the layout. I can't see a place for road to connect with the lower level. repainted and resigned plasticville hanger and admin building look good. Although a lot of small airports use white or silver for the buildings. Fuel storage, a control tower and other detail really make it.

I find plasticville structures to be correctly sized. Anyway...

it's the separation or isolation that struck me and limits what the area should be.
