I'm going to be building a layout with Fastrack for a friend, and a turntable and roundhouse is on the want list. What type do you guys recommend that is compatible ? This is my first venture into the turntable world and would appreciate any advice. I know Ross has some, and I was thinking that would be my first look see. Thanks a million. WK

We have an Atlas one on the Glancy Modular layout. The track roadbed had to be trimmed and shimmed up to make it work. One of the more senior members could probably tell you more about it. I've only been in the club for a year so I'm not too sure of what it involved.
I successfully integrated a Ross turntable with my FasTrack layout. I've described the process in the file Ross turntable lessons learned.doc within the Yahoo FasTrack forum's "files" section. I've been very pleased with its performance.

cbojanower is totally right, I just purchased one from CSX AL best
move I ever made. It's awesome and well built. My layout is all real trax
and AL'S turntable lined up just right.
THANKS,ALEX
There is a local guy here in Western NY who has CSXAl's turntable on his fastrack layout and it works fine.
Thanks guys for your wisdom. This forum sure helps take the mystery out of new things. And new things are always the most fun. Now, I've got some research to do. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction. Priceless...
William,
I'm not sure why this hasn't been discussed but there's no reason you can't transition from Fastrack to, say, Atlas O like Al uses on his turntable. The same is true for going across a wooden trestle, an Atlas O bridge, or into an engine house. After all, Fastrack represents track imbedded in its ballast. A turntable track wouldn't have ballast under its ties nor would a track on a trestle etc. The real consideration is keeping the rail tops at the same height. The ties under yard tracks, turntable approach tracks and those radiating into roundhouse or enginehouse stalls are normally flush with the ground level. In the case of Fastrack, you would simply raise the"ground" alongside your track to the tie top level. There are various ways to do that. Obviously, then your mating track would actually rest on a layout surface that brings the adjoining rails to the same height.

Dennis hit it right on.
Since there is no connection of FasTrack to the TT track, I would use something that looks good, without ballast, such as Gargraves or Atlas. Trim the mating FasTrack flush at the pit walls with a dremel.

I would think the only issue would be top of railhead match up, TT bridge rail to spider rails. . Both the Ross and Millhouse TT's are very adjustable in this area. If the bridge rail is slightly high (Best case) the spider rails can be shimmed slight to adjust for the difference. The Millhouse mounting system would allow for the whole TT to be dropped-down (or moved up) slightly as another adjustment.
Rather than bringing your Fastrack up to the pit wall I would transition my Fastrack turntable lead to Atlas O if using the Millhouse Turntable. Also, I would make the radiating tracks Atlas O. In other words, you would only need to worry about making 1 transition. All the tracks adjoining the turntable would be Atlas O. That would be easier and look completely natural.
Dennis
This is a transition from Gargraves/Ross "Y" switch to Atlas track. As Dennis mentioned all the spider tracks are Atlas, as is the Bridge rail.
Note that the yard rail is buried deep in darken ballast.
Rail head transition to the bridge has to be pretty good
Yeah, you guys Rock. Question answered about track over bridges too, And I didn't even need to ask! Thanks for sharing your wisdom. It's awesome.
