The mainstay of my steam fleet is a pair of Milwaukee Road S3 Northerns - one from Weaver and one from Lionel. I also have an assortment of 4-4-2 and 4-6-4 streamlined Hiawathas and a Weaver Milwaukee Road F6a non-streamlined 4-6-4. A  K-Line Mikado is awaiting redecorating to Milwaukee Road, and my K-Line Shay has already been relettered for the Milwaukee. A Weaver 2-8-0 Consolidation handles branch line and mixed train service. My "other" road is the SP, which is the hometown railroad here in Tucson. I have an MTH Cab Forward, a 3rd Rail Harriman Mikado, a K-Line Berkshire, and a Lionel 2-8-0 in SP. I also run an MTH UP 4-12-2; it doesn't fit the profile but I just like its massive size and wheelbase. There's also an ETS Beyer-Garratt - I just can't resist the big and unusual. I also can't resist a good Deco streamliner, so I have a Weaver John Wilkes that I converted to Protosound 2.

I have a kline gs4 in freedom train paint.Pulls real well and has 1 heck of a whistle. The weak part is the seuth smoke unit.Never have understood why kline went with them.Originally Posted by John Korling:

I like that name a lot.  My fictional road is "Michigan & Ohio Valley Lines".  I re-lettered one locomotive(K-Line Tank Engine) for it and plan to do a few more.

Thanks

The initials are after my kids, Madelyne, Gabi, and Lucas.  It just worked out to also be Michigan & Great Lakes.

I only have 2 that are currently running, a MTH RK 2-8-0 that's been modified and repainted for Seaboard:

and a MTH RK Imperial 0-6-0 that got repainted for Seaboard:

The 2-8-0 has Locosounds and needs upgrading badly.  With that in mind, I run the 0-6-0 with PS2 most of the time.

I'd love to have a N&W "J" or "K2a" and some full length Tuscan Red passenger cars to go with it.  Also would like to get a USRA 2-8-2 and modify it to represent a Seaboard Q3 Mike.

My steam roster is much similar to SouW Hi's.  Mostly Milwaukee Road, two S-3 Northerns, the Weaver being #261 the Lionel #265, two F-7 streamlined Baltics (Hudsons to you non-Milw Rd guys) one MTH, one Weaver.  The F6a unstreamlined Baltic from Weaver, the A-1 4-4-2 Hiawatha from Weaver, a K-Line 2-8-2 Mike done in Milw style, a K-Line light Pacific painted in the "Chippewa" colors and, finally, a Weaver 2-8-0 in Milwaukee paint.

Now, for the rest of the roster, we've got to go to C&NW.  First the big, streamlined Hudson (E-6?) from MTH, then a Weaver 4-6-2 streamlined "Yellow Jacket", another Weaver 2-8-0 in C&NW paint, a Lionel North Western "Omaha Road" 4-4-2, an Atlas 0-6-0 switcher and an older RailKink 0-8-0 which I question the authenticity of.

Guess that's about 15 engines.  Want to hear about my diesels and electrics?

Paul Fischer

My Indian Valley Railroad currently has 3 operating steam engines (All of my engines, steam, diesel, and 1 Subway are MTH Railking) with 2 being in active service.

1) Railking Imperial K4s Pennsylvania Railroad. Picked this up last August - came out right around late Spring/Early Summer last year. Super nice engine.

2) Railking Chesapeake & Ohio 4-6-4 Streamlined Hudson "Yellowbelly". This is not an Imperial and is the 2006 issued version with PS2. One of my favorites although I doesn't see as much running time as I would like due to the fact it tends to have a mind of its own - wheels will start spinning with no traction randomly, very rough on track, finds every rough/poor section of track you have, etc. Great running engine and looks great with matching cars but tends to find an issue with the track or develops a minor issue or two with itself every time it is run.

3) The engine that got me back into O Gauge in 2004 - a Lionel 4-4-2 from the PRR Flyer set. No headlight, No whistle, no smoke but it still runs and never does. My entire layout is DCS and it sits on display.

When the new Imperial Railking steamers ship, hopefully sometime soon, I have decided that ONE more (yea right...) will be added and that will be it. I have 5 diesels, 2 steamers, and 1 Subway set (All PS2 Railking ranging from Rugged Rails to Imperial) and need just "one" more to finish it off....

O.K. guys I have the following steam locomotives.1 lionel 736 berkshire 1 mth railking erie berkshire 1 mth railking C&O berkshire 1 mth L&N berkshire.1 kline mike made of for seaboard and a kline gs4 the freedom train.4 moutain/mohawk steam locomotives.I mth railking hiawartha hudson.1 CSX SD70ACE AND 1 NS DASH 8 LOCOMOTIVES.OPPS!!Almost forgot I have a kline up gp38 and a mth railking up fef.

Counting my new Legacy EM-1, which has been shipped but not delivered, I have 15 scale steam locos and 8 non-scale (LM, Railking, etc.), and maybe a dozen a bunch of pre- and post-war locos.  Many of the scale locos are big articulated ones that will make it around my layout but look a bit silly, so I don't run them often.

My runners, that stay on the layout are:

  • Lionmaster Big Boy - my favorite - I've worn mine out so that it gives problems now, hoping for a new offering soon - I'll buy two this time.
  • Vision Hudson - I don't like Hudsons that much, but this is just the best runner I have, and a perfect size for my layout
  • Williams Baldwin ten-wheeler (modifed body, using a smaller tender from a Lionel Mogul) - a good slow runner that looks good on my tighter (all 36" curve loops.
  • Lionel conventional Atlantic (2011 version) - just a really nice little locomotive in every way.
  • Legacy 3759 Northern - as good a loco as the Vision Hudson, except for the swinging bell.  Still, I love the sound and the look of it - great runner, too.

My railroad is mostly steam, so naming the main ones is kinda hard, but I will give it a shot.

Here are the ones that stay on the layout:

-Lionel 736

-Lionel 681

-Lionel 675

-Railking Blue Comet (Locosounds)

-Lionelville Fire Department Hudson

-Lionel 265E

-K-Line Big Boy (on long term visit from my Dad's collection)

-Lionel custom Lehigh Valley Docksider (down for repairs)

-Lionel Pennsylvania Flyer 4-4-2 (replacement engine when one is down for repairs)

-Two American Flyer 290's

Up on the shelf for regular use:

-Lionel 262E

-Lionel Union Pacific Steam Freight Set 4-4-2

-Lionel Hogwarts Express Hall Class 4-6-0

-Lionel A.T.& SF. Hudson (on long term visit from my Dad's collection)

-Williams by Bachmann Southern Ten Wheeler

-Lionel Thomas the Tank Engine

-Lionel Percy

I have a whole bunch of steamers ranging from 2-4-2 Columbia types to a 4-8-2 NYC Mohawk but by far my favorites are the Lionel Berkshires and that includes all of them with just a slight preference for the early 1946 Berky with the beautiful Baldwin Disc drivers, smoke bulb and the double worm gear drive.
