I've been working on my layout but I hadn't ran any trains for over a month. Tonight, I got one of engines and a set of 4 passenger cars (arrived today) on the track (they are lighted). There wasn't any sparking, no smell, but it sounded to me like the wheels and track were hissing or working really hard to get connectivity from the track to the wheels. another way to describe it was that it sounded like a spark but without the actual arcing. Do I need to clean my track or ? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you, Terry

Check the pickup rollers, could be one hanging up and draging on the rail. It may need a bit of lube on the ends. Sometimes a roller can be "tweaked" in its mounts and stick as well. Straightening the mount will free it up. Generally speaking passenger car pickup rollers do add a bit of noise as compared to a freight with no rollers.
