"Mine is a traditional Lionel tubular layout that goes up on Black Friday. Can't wait!"

Well Michael, the goods news is you really don't have to wait. After all, it is November 4th.

All kidding aside, the Christmas portion is a part of our permanent layout and it stays up all year. And we also use tubular track with Johnson roadbed.

Mine normally goes up this week!  I usually take this week off from work to set it up; however this year is different.  I began setting up my layout over 4 weeks ago at the beginning of October.  I finished setting it up this past weekend.  To be honest it was too early for me to set it up, but the reason why I set it up so early was because TM Books and Video came out yesterday to film my layout.  Joe from TM told me yesterday he was going to beg me if I could not get it up for them!  I thought that was funny!   My layout is not a huge layout like some other layouts that will appear on the video, but I am hoping many will enjoy seeing my 2014 Christmas layout and hearing about my stories.   Christmas is one of my favorite times of year especially running trains.  Now I get the extra time to enjoy my layout before the holiday season!

my layout is going up next week. My son and his family are coming from Charlotte on the 22nd For my chapters train show  and thanksgiving. Last year I converted my under tree layout to a table layout as it became too difficult for me to get up and down from the floor. I am spending this week on my permanent layout getting it ready for my 8 grandchildren

We put up the layout this weekend and got all track ready last night.   Unfortunately I am stuck on the wiring issue (see wiring question in a separate thread) and once that is solved I will put up snow blankets, village stores and houses, and more trees.

the layout goes in the room directly behind our tree but away from the twin puppy tornadoes that would make short work of the foam and wires in no time.

Been building it off site and hoped to move it into the house at some point in the next month. It's been up and down about four times since August 1. So we've had a lot of practice assembling and disassembling.

Unexpected, unrelated, outside issues have put a delay in further progress though and until they can be resolved it's in a state of limbo.
