I just saw an auction on the that famous site. It was an LCT 1835 I believe. However, there was no tender included. It seams that there are more and more of these showing up? What are people doing with these engines? Could it be damage, stolen, or put with an original? I just do not get it?

Seems like many are selling the tender separately, perhaps thinking they will get more that way. Also, see passenger sets split up and listed individually.
Also remember some early tenders suffered zinc pest. Some may be keeping the tenders to complete a older set. Then there are the non train people that don’t get that they should be together.

You all bring up valid points. Selling separately? Never thought of that one!🙄 or people not knowing they go togerher??

Agree with the above especially about splitting the engine / tender for sale. This actually worked to my advantage recently as was able to pair nice original 262e & 262T for less than what a lot of folks ask for sets. Took some time, lots of comparing, but worth it in the long run.
Too often I see the engine and "coal car" listed for sale separately.... Or a picture of the set and the tender is backwards at the end...
