Sonny,
I'm going to send for Barry's book
Get it right here: https://www.createspace.com/3565158
The fuses are obvious once you remove the case.
You have to remove all the screws in the cover, it then comes apart in half. The fuses, 1 for each channel look like spade type car fuses, and are next to each output.
Sonny, let me save you some grief, as well as wear and tear on the plastic case of the TIU.
At your local Radio Shack or similar, get a few fuse holder, and place them between transformer and each TIU input. Use no greater than 10-amp fuses. If you want to save money over the long haul (fuses do cost), get some inexpensive push button breakers from a marine supply house like Defender.com.
Yes, I do know that the internal fuses are 20 amp. But I do not consder they are adequate protection.
OK sent for book Barry; Thanks choochoopaul. I'll look again, Is it the top of the tiu, and not the bottom too take off. The top is easy. Sonny
Thanks to you RJR again for you advise. Sonnhy
I purchased a couple of these from Allied Electronics. $17.27 each plus shipping. I mounted two of them in a plastic junction box. I drilled a 3/8" hole in the bottom and screwed the ring down to hold it in place. One wire to the TIU and the other to the track.Circuit Breaker; Therm; Push; Cur-Rtg 4A; Panel; 1 Pole; Vol-Rtg 250/28VAC/VDC Mfr. Part#: 2-5700-IG1-P10-DD-4A

Thank you imiller320, for your advise. But I'M GOING TO FINE THE FUSE FIRST, Barry say's it's easy to fine, well I'm not getting his book deleivered until Nov. 18th, so I'm going to open both top and bottom, I'll fine that blank fuse, I hope I don't break $300.00 TIU. Sonny
So you know what you're lookiing for, Sonny, these are not the familiar glass tube fuses, but modern automotive types. Since I've never blown one, I have never opened by Rev H TIU, so I can't tell you where it is.
Thank you RJR for the info, and I'm glad you never and hope you never will have a plown fuse. I found the fuse's two one behind the other for var 1, an fixed 1, then one for fixed2 an var 2. BUT, how do you pull then out? I tried pliers, hebut was afraid of pulling the hole board out. Another thing did you ever tried to fix your own engine the just sat there and didn't go? Sonny
The fuses pull straight out. You can buy fuse pullers that grip them better than pliers. The first time out of new fuse sockets, they can take a bit of force. Just hold the board down on both sides of the fuse with the other hand and pull them out.
Sonny, the condition you described in your last sentence has rarely happened to me. Sound will be on, but can't get engine to move. Shut the engine down, then cut power to the track it's on for 5 minutes or so. This gives the on-board unit a chance to fully shut down and reset itself. After powerup, hit startup and it should be ok.
I cut holes in the top of most of my TIU's so I can change the fuse without pulling them off the panel and removing the cover
Just make sure something doesn't accidentally fall into the hole and short out the innards. Much better to use an external fuse or breaker.
