I have several Lionel and MTH locomotives which are long overdue for new tires. Lionel is closed and MTH wants $15 to ship $6.00 worth of tires.
Can anyone recommend dealers that stock and ship replacement tires?
Thanks
John

I would try eBay
Go with the MTH tires hands down. The Lionel tires are thicker and don't fit as well.
What size tires are you looking for? My shipping price is only $14.
Just kidding, let me know what you need.
Here's a useful chart click the highlight https://mthtrains.com/news/10
Thanks for the chart!

Thanks John. I will email you a list.
Don't you wish somebody would sell a big bag of assorted traction tires for 5 bucks !

Send them my way if you find them!
Two words ... Bullfrog Snot.
The Train Tender stocks 'em, and his shipping rates are lower than Lionel...

I'm with John. That stuff works well for HO and N-scale trains. Some of the local guys use it. For us, with the weight of the trains we pull, it peels off the tires in short order.

I tend to avoid it as well. I think it works okay in most cases but it can be messy if not applied properly and very hard to clean up. Complete removal of the product is also not fun.
For me, the ends don't justify the means.
Im still going try silicone caulk.....
I will note in passing that I've gotten satisfactory (albeit temporary) results using a couple of black rubber hair bands placed side by side in the traction tire groove.

---in passing also--I have a coule of locos that tires have shredded so I have been running them without tires--granted I really don't have steep grades but they pull, haven't checked the wheels for wear yet.
Love the MTH chart but a question, does the SC designation stand for scale (or premier?).

I was wondering the same thing.
Yes, SC is scale sized. RK is of course railking size.

Thanks Chuck. Maybe it's just me but PR would have made more sense.
