For my latest project, I need to find an 8 ohm round speaker less than 1" in diameter. This is for an O gauge loco with a tiny boiler and no tender.
Where would I shop for such an animal?

TCS has a 20mm round speaker. There are other options like sugar cubes that would most likely fit and sound better.

Back in the day, I would have said Radio Shack. Now it's google.
Some of the results are larger than 1" but some are incredibly small (i.e., < 0.5") and might have a number of interesting uses on a layout.
Another interesting thing about searches like this is that they can often introduce you to manufacturers you didn't know about. In my case: https://www.miscospeakers.com/ .

I use salvaged laptop speakers for stuff like this, they have sound engineered baffles and some can be very compact. Here's a sampling of the ones I have currently in my speaker box. Some of the best sound in both range and volume can be found in laptops, they spend considerable time engineering the sound.

Atlas SW model speakers are small. They may be available as replacement parts from Atlas.
If you don't have a lot of devices with the speakers John pictured to take them from you can get them from Railmaster Hobbies. They won't break the bank.
