David, I used to have the original RK Challenger many moons ago and it was a real 'breakthrough' locomotive at the time. Performance was strong, smoke incredible, but it appeared too 'top-heavy' or tall compared to the other dimensions. Have no experience with the Big Boy but did have the Lionmaster Class A and the T-1 Duplex which seemed far better proportioned overall.
Hi David, the Imperial Big Boy is better proportioned. The difference in size between the scale Premier and Imperial version is less than the Challenger versions in spite of it being a larger engine.
