I believe that this photo was taken on Christmas Day, 1951, three months before my fourth birthday.  I received the PRR 681 steamer, LV hopper car, operating dump car, operating milk car, Sunoco tank car, caboose, track and a ZW.  These items obviously had to come from Santa Claus.  I mean, what parent would trust a 4-year old with a ZW?

Bob, since mine "worked" it was great.  You could uncouple the cars anywhere by pushing the corresponding color button on the controller.  As I recall my set had a box car, a gondola, a dump car and caboose (since it was of SP style can't call it a cabin).  The dump would function anywhere by again pushing the correct color button.  Each car had a little Lionel circular logo of different color which corresponded to the controller's ten-colored-buttons.   As I stated mine worked, one reason maybe because once as a kid at the local train shop (Amer's) a gentleman told me the secret was the length of the wire.  Which later in life I understood as relating to "wavy length."

Ed Boyle did an article on the Electronic sets in Run 262.

Unfortunately in the 70's the same dealer stripped it of all the "electronic stuff" in a misunderstanding.
