My wife Ginny and I, along with friends Skip Natoli and Peter Fluchere will be down at Grand Central Terminal Saturday morning for the celebration of GCT's 100 anniversary.

GCT is likely to be crowded and the "Parade of Trains" exhibit opens qt 10:10 AM, I believe. I will be there about 9. Perhaps we can have an OGR meeting at the main kiosk at noon?

I made my one and only pilgrimage to GCT last Dec. and I must admit it is a spectacular place to see.  So I will be volunteering with the Rocky Mount Railroad Museum, assisting with their National Train Day events at the Amtrak station in Rocky Mount, NC.  If anyone passes through on Saturday stick you head out while you'er waiting for passengers to board and say HI.

I'm hoping to make it down with Maya, Eliot. Work may intervene..but fingers crossed.  Here's a little preview to whet your whistles.

I posted these in the subway section yesterday...saw these sitting in the Stamford yard awaiting this weekends festivities at Grand Central Terminal. Unfortunately the skies opened up on me, but managed a couple quick shots...

Seriously disappointed. Got there at 11. The line was a 4 hour wait. Got on line anyway. A few minutes later some staff and the police broke the line about 20 people in front of us and told everyone the line was closed and that we would not see the exhibit. Lots of very angry people. Shopping and dinner in the city instead. Won't be doing this again.
I was surprised to see the Metro North RS3 605. At first I thought it was just an interesting old Alco still in limited service then I looked at the top. It was actually a RS3M. A Dewitt Geep repowered with an EMD engine from an E Unit as turned out by the Dewitt shops under Penn Central. I didn't realize any had been preserved.

I'm actually working on a conversion of a Lionel RS3 right now it's on my workbench. I got a few good pics.
