I sure think they will, my grandson likes the DCS and Legacy remotes now, but he also knows his way around the iphones and ipads very well. I got the Lionel Battle Train app for him, he just turned it on and started playing. I am still trying to figure out how to get past the opening screen...

I think both the DCS app and the LCS app are going to be a hit with the kids and may very well spark some needed interest back into the hobby from the younger folks. I think both companies are on the right track here and wish them both much success with the apps.

That's a great idea, hope the folks from MTH and Lionel are listening. I think the kids would really love that too (along with the adults)!!

We would MUCH rather have a camera in the locomotive than crew talk or even WiFi.

Using WiFi to control other things the guests have noticed they must take their eyes off of the object (even if it has a camera) because there is no "feel" for where the controls are. Like texting and driving a real car, you crash your toy one when you look away. We are sure they will sell a lot of these but still feel a color camera up front would be better.

Well, I guess we could say Lionel was way ahead of its time when they brought out "Railscope" back in the early 90's. They also offered a small 5 or 7" screen for it. It actually worked really well for technology at that time.

Having a new camera inside an engine today should be easy to do, but I tend to think they will shy away from a "add on" camera because that means customers would have to take the cab off, potentially causing other issues because of their clumliness.

All new productionEngines could have "on board factory installed" camera's.

Who knows what the future will bring.

Whoa, 'we' don't want to lose any current functionality, crew talk or wifi, 'we' want the camera in addition to all we already have!!! More is always better

Forgot to add, we don't want the price to increase either, but this might be pushing it just a bit.

The initial, free MTH app will not have that capability. It will, however, be in the later, paid-for app.

Thanks Barry

Not sure what I gain from this that I can't do with my simple DCS handheld functions.  All I ever use is startup, thumbwheel, whistle, bell, shutdown.

Besides, I would have to subscribe to $100/month cell phone contract just to learn how to use the I whatever. Which means little or no train purchases

No thanks.  Stick with what I know.

But that's just me.  Your mileage may vary.
