The Neuse River Valley Model RR club is having their 29 annual Train show this weekend at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh, NC.  This is a multi-scale event with operating layouts in N, S, HO, O, and garden (G) scales, and vendors in all scales (usually about 25% have O or o27 items for sale).

If you can attend, I think you will enjoy the layouts and what is offered for sale.  It is a very nice show with kids under 10 free with an adult.

If you come, please stop by and say hello.  I will be set up on Seaboard Ave. (second Isle to the left as you enter).

Hope to see you there,

Don

With much of the negativity posted regarding two other shows this weekend, I would like to report some good news.

To all that attended and stopped by to say hello, it was good to see and talk with you.

The show had over 2200 visitors which in the clubs 29 years of doing the show is their second largest attendance and over 25% higher than last year's.  Some may consider the number to be small but please consider the the smaller size of the city.  While some sellers were complaining about their sales (or lack of them), I had a great show and the crew at the door reported most people leaving with bags.  Being close to the front entrance, it appeared most folks were enjoying themselves.  The layouts were very well presented with one HO layout covering an area about 40 feet by 80 feet and almost all detailed.  Four of the layouts had fun things for kids to do.  I would add that at least 30% present of sellers offered O gauge trains.

I would consider the show a great success and the hobby well represented and I can attest first hand that when exposed to them, today's kids are as excited about seeing toy trains as they were when I was growing up in the 50's.

Happy railroading to all and to all a good night,

Don
