The $759.00 you mention is the lowest I have seen. I'm waiting for them to go lower. The amount of problems some of those sets had it will have to go lower for me to buy it.
That is what I think too.
Dealers lower the price and sell those sets.
What a good price?
You guys need to read the thread about Mizzell's Store closing.
My suggestion? Buy it from your LHS....and then return often. Over time, you will acquire preferred customer status, appropriate discounts and priceless service.
Look at it this way...pretty soon there won't be any "cheap" places to look.....
Steve,
Have you signed up for Trainworld's email alerts? You'll get emails alerts advising you of special sales and promotions. They provide you a code word and you can usually save about 10% on their already pretty good prices when you present the special code at time of checkout.

Sounds like a good idea but the hobby shops in this area (Philly) could care less. I always shop my favorite online dealer or eBay and the OGR buy/sell board. having a relationship with local dealers just is not going to happen, not with the people that own them.
Sadly, I have to agree with David1, in so far as the Los Angeles area goes.
I have frequented the four main stores in my area, and none of them have any use for a guy with some money to spend -- which is just bizarre.
I dropped thousands of dollars on several purchases in one store over the course of four months. And still, they made no effort to know my name, be moderately helpful, or even to go the extra mile and actually check on my order without me asking when it took months to come in. Not to mention, I always paid cash in full. And I smiled a lot.
Working in retail is a drudge. I know. Even in a cool train store. But the only way to gain and keep customers is to treat them as if they are important to your livelihood. And, sadly, this is not a factor in the LA stores. At least not in my case. Maybe I am just too ugly and I frighten them...
Anyway, I also am looking for the Ice Cold Express. Wish I would have grabbed the one that went for $600.00. That was stupid of me.
Anyone out there ready to sell theirs?
