Who's going to the Weaver sale tomorrow?

I would love to go, I really like their product but I will not be able to make it tomorrow

I live an hour away and I am not going. I have been told very little is left to buy. Seems it would be a waste of time. 

I will be going before work but I am close.

Nope, 3 hour trip here and it's impossible for me to take Friday off this week.

 

Don't read too much into the inventory on their web site, when I called a day or 2 after the announcement, all of the Tropicana Reefers were sold out, despite the web site listing a few as available.  Ditto for the Wash Away paint remover.  (not complaining, it's reality, just mentioning it - I should have decided to buy a few Tropicana cars years ago if I really wanted them that badly)

 

I suspect (opinion only)  there is not a lot left unless a few of the models Joe had on display in the office area remain. 

 

Let me re-phrase that: There may be some amount of stock of random items left, but I think going there with the mindset of "I want to pick up product X in roadname Y" is probably not going to have a high likelihood of coming home with product X in roadname Y.

Way too far for me. Hiawatha Hudson in the display case would be my interest.

I am way too far away, but I would have liked to have seen their operation while still in production. But, health is more important, take care of that first. Trains will still be around when you get better.

According to their website, it is also on Saturday, but that is too long a drive for me, too.

 

I suspect by now that everything is pretty picked over.  I doubt there's much left that would warrant me making the trip.

I was going to go. I'd like to get some Reading, Lehigh Valley, and LNE rolling stock, but you guys have me second guessing going. I'd hate to drive almost 2 hours for an empty building.

I had some friends of mine go up there right after the announcement we had a list of stuff we wanted but there wasn't a whole lot there we went away with some cars off the layout and some trucks but noting that would make me want to go back I bet its been very picked over if you are looking for some cars you can paint into roadnames you want then maybe its worth a ride if you live close but not a major travel

I am going with a couple of guys from my club, and I know a local dealer that is going.

 

It will be a 3.5 hour trip for us, but we have backup plans if there isn't much to buy.

A long drive for me as well. I am not going to find an empty building. I have mentioned on other Weaver posts that it would have been nice for Weaver to give some idea whats left over so the people with long drives can make a decision.

Yeah, I was aware of Saturday, but I'm not going to gamble at that point.

 

The good (relatively speaking) news of all this is that it seems Joe has been able to offload most of what he had left and will not be stuck holding on to much of anything. 

 

I wish him the best in his retirement.  As has been posted in many responses across the various Weaver threads, he is a true class act.

One person can go with a Video Camera equipped Smart Phone and show other people what is remaining. That way everybody saves on travel time.

Have a great time guys!  Bob,over the years you probably got everything that Weaver made for the Pennsy.  I seem to remember that Weaver was the only game in town for scale rail cars,and at pretty good prices,too.

The sale was okay, no much jumped out at me. Freight cars are $38 each, with metal trucks that you install. They also have some engines left (almost bought a Black Diamond). The tools and parts are also for sale, so if you need that get up here. They also have bags of decals cheap and bags of traction tires for $15 each. I spent about an hour looking around, and am leaving now.

How much was the Black Diamond. Were there any 2-8-0's

 I sure could use their 2 rail trucks! Too far for me.

I just got back from Weavers.  I picked up some 3 rail metal trucks with couplers and a few 4 bay hopper loads.  Lots o stuff, electronics, parts, tools etc.  Good prices. 

 

SCOTT the BLACK DIAMOND was selling for $850.

PARTS! there are copious amounts of parts, Train America Smoke units, older railsound boards, wiring,

Black Diamond 850 out the door.

  They had the Interstate Hoppers selling I think for $38 bucks and then they gave you the trucks.  There was a full box of those there.

I spoke with the owners wife and she said there will be an auction on September 29 for everything that doesn't sell today and tomorrow.

Lots of H30 hoppers.

Is there anyone there willing to pick up a bag of traction tires referenced above for me?  I would be more than glad to pay for your efforts....just let me know.

Were you actually there, and commenting on what you experienced?

Are there any northeast caboose parts? Any steps , end railings, or smoke stacks for these cabooses?
