If I was going to put something whimsical on my layout it would be one or two of these.

How about a duck! The Flanders Duck, located on the east end of Long Island, NY. It has been a roadside attraction almost forever.
Cool idea. I think I'll add a giant cow by a barn on my layout!!
Tee Pee Hotel in Wharton TX would also fit!
Maybe you can find large figures in Wal Mart or a Dollar Store? I don't think G Scale figures would be big enough.
Not a figure, but a town south of where I live professes to have the world's largest [fake] egg as a monument to the egg industry there...
I was always partial to these guys...
The "muffler men" Here is an interesting one outside a now closed restaurant in Wilmington, IL.
Brendan
That durn giant Lionel gateman
A little cheesy, but we have an Irish theme on one section of the layout where we used Dept 56/Lemax items as big people on top of an Irish pub and welcome sign coming into the village. Also used Dept 56 vacation moose near the 1 amusement park item we have. Creates a little fun for the kids when viewing and, if it's Irish, we'll throw anything in there.
I was trying to find some lighted big people too.
Maybe Miller Engineering can come up with a few.
here's another I spotted:
Not me in the photo

That's funny Lee. The duck was a monument to the duck farms on the east end of Long Island.
