I have been using my iPhone for the Wi-Fi DCS app to run trains. Now I have been given a old iPad 2. Will this old iPad support the Wi-Fi app? Also will it support updates to the app? I assume it will probably load the app. Just concerned that it won't run it right because of old iOS that's not updatable or able to update the app. Hope I made myself clear.

It would depend on what version of iOS the iPad 2 can go up to. I have an original iPad and literally nothing will load now because of the ancient version of iOS and it can't be updated to anything current.
Try it, see what happens. If it loads and opens it will probably be ok.

As mentioned by TONY V above, you will have to try it. According to Apple, the latest iOS an iPad 2 will support is v9.3.5. In the notes for the last DCS WiFi app release (3.2.1) it mentions adding support for iOS 9. On paper it should work.
The Premium app needs iOS 11. Older I pads with 9.35 cannot be upgraded. I purchased a refurbish IPad with iOS 9.35 and found this out. Luckily I got it off Amazon and returned it and found one that handles the newer iOS
I had this iPad given to me. Now since I already had the premium version on my iPhone, I did try and download it on the tablet from the already purchased option. Now it did download it. I just assumed since it came from the all ready purchased option from the apps store it’s the premium version that I had purchased for my iPhone . The version that was loaded is v3.2,1 if you hold your finger down on the version you get
“ Build 3” that appears with the option to just hit ok. So again I am assuming that it did down load on this old ipad2.
I assuming I have the latest Wi-Fi app update. Not sure how to check. Like said not sure this old iPad will accept anymore updates.

To check the version of the app on your Apple device, go to the "... More" selection ant the bottom of the app screen, choose App Settings and at the bottom of that screen shows the version number. The latest is v3.2.1.

TONY V , thanks. That’s what’s showing on my iPad. When I get to where my trains are i will give it a test. I guess the next test is to see if and when a update for the app comes out will it accept it. I suppose time will tell.
