Will 611 be running on the Strasburg RR in 2022? | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

My grandson will be visiting this summer and I’d like to take him to see and ride behind 611 - his favorite steam locomotive. I’ve searched the internet and haven’t found any news beyond that 611 would be receiving routine inspections and maintenance while it wintered at the Strasburg.

What is the plan for 611 operation in 2022?

Nothing has been announced. The Virginia Museum of Transportation would be the most valid source. www.vmt.org

I'd give the RR a call as they may know something. I can say this - I got to run it last year at Strasburg as evidenced by my avatar and most organizations will reach out to folks who have donated in the past for additional donations. I haven't received anything concerning 611 this year so that would lead me to believe that any plans to run her have yet to be finalized.

I just drove by last week and the "J" was no longer "parked" outside. Most likely indoors for maintenance. Pics are from November 2021.
