Has anyone had a problem with the Williams Bachmann Baldwin 4-6-0 sound? My engine and tender are about 1 1/2 years old but only run for 2 Christmas layouts. Very little run time. The engine (Chesapeake & Ohio #377) is beautiful and runs great, however all at once the sound went from normal to a whisper. I can barely hear it. I took the tender apart where the sound board is and there does not appear to be any loose wires and the speaker looks fine. Any advice? Thank you in advance, DALE

I had this happen on an MTH Proto 2 steamer. The issue I found is that the speaker magnet started to degrade (i.e. fell apart). I don't know if this is the problem with yours, but you can check that.
Replace with Railsounds medium sound unit. Only a 2 wire hookup!
The other thing to check is to see if there is a volume control (the screw pot) to see if the points just need to be moved.
Examine the adjusting screw (potentiometer) for any obstruction, wax, etc. Alternatively you can try spraying the pot with a contact cleaner and working it back and forth.

Thank you all for your timely help! I adjusted the potentiometer and that did the trick! I am curious as to why it changed or how it became quiet. All is well on the track now ;- )

It could have been that it was dirty and lost the throughput. I've had it happen many times.
