I am looking for motors to power a Genesis non powered unit.  I have the mounting plates and power trucks. On the Bachmann document page, they list it as 808 E0002.  On their parts site they show 4 universal motors          345-E001-L,  345-E001-S, 345-E001 and 345-E001.  Does anyone know if any of these motors will work with the trucks?

Thanks,  Marty

Williams/WbB use the same truck blocks on many different locos. They used three styles for most of the locos they make. There is a two axle truck, a three axle truck with asymmetrical axle spacing and a three axle truck with evenly spaced axles. All of the Williams/WbB locos use one of these three types of truck block. They just put different sideframes on them for the prototype they represent.

There is a good chance these motors will work on your loco. The difference I have been able to see is in the flywheel. Narrow hood diesels use the narrow, tall flywheel. Some of the wide body locos use the wide, flat flywheel. You would need to check the flywheel clearance. It looks like all of the motors Bachmann has listed, have the narrow, tall flywheel.

If you have another unit that is powered, you could remove the motor from one of the trucks and see if it mounts in the trucks you have for your unit that you want to upgrade to see if it fits. Since I don't have the Genesis, I can't answer your question. Hopefully some of the info here will help you figure it out.

The folks at Bachmann may be able to answer your question if necessary.

Thanks for the replies.  I do have another powered Genesis  to which I added a cruise commander .  That engine had a narrow tall fly wheel.  I have another potential option.  I have a chuggington locomotive which my grandkids no longer run.  I could scavenge the motors from it.  It has the wide narrow flywheel.  My concern is that I would like to double head the two engines with a cruise commander.  Would the variation in flywheel types effect the ability to run the two engines together?
