a while ago, I tried swapping the pilot wheels on a Williams Scale Hudson for a set of 17mm steel wheels from Walsall Model Engineering, which much improved the appearance

However this did create certain clearance issues, the loco wasn’t really comfortable with curves less than O42 and even that, only really for short sections. So as they weren’t expensive, and are made to order I ordered some 15.5mm dia, with the same flanges. This was based on measurements taken from a K Line semi-Scale Hudson, and an MTH K4S. This has had the result that the loco is now quite at ease with O42, handles O36 Fastrack and still looks better than the original plastic wheels.
