I have a Williams scale Hudson I recently picked up for a project, this poor thing is so slap tired its a sin....most of what is needed is available from Bachmann, but they are out of stock on the motors....id like to replace the gear box set (that's available) and some of the worn out rods (they are available). has anyone swapped in a pittman motor on one of these? I plan on an ERR upgrade as well, I searched the forum but cant find anything specific about the motor....any suggestions? thanks as always....................Pat

Do not buy from bachmann if you can avoid it. there are dealers that stock the parts you want and there by bachmann/Williams but a lot cheaper. I can't find any on my save files but know I have them will update or others may also
thanks Bill, that will be a big help....if I can get a stock replacement motor from a dealer, I would go that route.....
What's wrong with buying parts from Bachman? Anyway, follow this link to the page for a parts diagram pdf with numbers and a list of parts that you can order directly from Bachman for the 4-6-4.

Just asking -
I assume that you are talking about the scale die-cast Lionel clone that has been around for a decade or so. These are available new/nearly new on eBay (and elsewhere, I imagine) right now for under $300. Unless you have a particular attachment to that loco that is worn out, why not get one of the new ones and get on to the fun stuff (like ERR) and not wrestle with the repairs? The repairs aren't free, either - and neither is your time.
I have one that I detailed/upgraded to ERR Cruise Commander a few years ago. I found the loco's poor gearing (zoom zoom) issue to be tamed by the Cruise Commander. Still not a switcher (not meant to be), but it will haul a train at steady prototypical speeds, even slower ones.
Weather the worn one and use it for layout eye-candy in the shop area.
yes D500, I am talking about the scale diecast lionel clone. I enjoy doing rebuilds, to me, its fun.....ive seen your detailed Hudson on another post, its a beautiful piece. I do plan on ERR upgrades, and sounds....Doing a full rebuild and making a loco run better is part of the hobby for me.....I see your point and you are right, I could probably bid on one on the bay and be far ahead, but I'm gonna have fun with this one.......

The Bach-Man's prices are high on purpose, they don't want to undercut their dealers... at least that used to be the general consensus on their site.
