I'll be picking up my first Williams/Bachmann steamer in several years. Don't have any presently...I seem to recall discussion that smoke fluid other than the Seuthe stuff would kill the smoke unit. I've got a mixed bag of MTH and Mega Steam. Anyone have issues using this stuff in the Seuthe units? I seem to remember issues with my LGB locomotives after using Mega Steam and rather blunt directions from Bachmann on the issue. Maybe my memory has faded a bit....

Does not mater much, after using it a few times you will get tired of cleaning off the locomotive and stop using the smoke unit altogether!

Mine was more of a spit unit than a smoke unit, if you are use to an  MTH or Lionel smoke units, you will be very disappointed with the Williams.

I've had Williams steam in the past - I remember how much they spit but I always found the smoke to be sufficient. While the massive clouds of smoke from MTH and Lionel look cool, I find it very overpowering while the Williams was a good amount of smoke for me.

I can only tell you my experience and I realize that the forum has a bunch of guys with more williams locos but this is what happened with mine.

I was using williams fluid in a new prr turbine. Worked fine (for a seuthe) unit but the scent was't very pleasant.

Emailed megasteam to ask if it was safe to use. They said yes. Tried it (original cedar) and didn't overfill. The smoke unit immediately stopped working. Maybe this particular bottle was a tad thicker than normal. Maybe it was extreme coincidence and the unit was ready to die. However, I doubt it.

I then replaced it with a fan unit from the late boxcar bill.

End of story.
