Hey guys. I am familiar with the DZ-1008. I had a dozen of them on my old layout. They were connected directly to my DZ-1000 motors using the small screws (a dicey connection at best). Regardless, they all performed great.

I am using the DZ1008 to "only" control my mast signals (MTH) I have at the switches to indicate turnout direction. Nothing more.

Fast forward a few years.....I now have all DZ-2500's on my switches. Looking at the directions for the DZ1008, the relay no longer connects directly to the DZ-2500. Not a problem as I mounted them remotely under the switch.

I am reading the directions for the DZ-1008, "Relay can be used to control signals" with the DZ-2500. It shows a diagram. Directions state, "Connect the RED, GREEN and YELLOW wire together. RED will connect to 14VAC and BLACK to COMMON". I did just that.

The relay also has a BLUE, GRAY and WHITE wire that I assume controls the signal. Looking at the other diagrams, I assume the gray (NC) and white (NO) go the signal's GREEN and RED wire. The directions show no indication but I assume the blue wire needs 14VAC so I connected it also to the bundle above of R, G, and Y.

Bottom line, signals do not work. Only one aspect shows and does not change when the switch is thrown. This is how I hooked up my DZ-1000's with the relay and they worked great.

Am I missing something? These relays are from the old layout but I doubt they all are bad.

Any response would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Donald

I made  modules using the DZ-1008 to power homemade dwarf signals with 5mm led's so I could see the switch position using DZ-1000's.  The Z-stuff web site has schematics available.

I tied the Red-Blue wires together  (14VAC).  The White and Grey wires are positive for the Red, Green leds.  Use the black wire as common for these also.  Remember to install resistors to cut the voltage.

Thank you very much Bruce. However, you noted you are using the DZ1000 switch motor. They are wired different than the DZ-2500 as the DZ1000 uses the yellow and green wire and the DZ-2500 does not.

I am using the DZ-2500 which only has a hot (R) and a ground (B) with a white data wire that runs between the switch motor and the switch controller.

The instructions on the DZ site state what I wrote in my first post.

It almost appears that the relay does not cycle as only either the white or gray wire from the 1008 is energized and does not switch.

I did connect the blue wire to the constant hot.

Just for the fun of it I hooked up a DZ1000 and all works great.

Very frustrating. It is like the 1008 does not work with a 2500.

Tomorow I will email DZ.
