Hello All, I would like to run my Budd cars like a trolley and was wondering if there is any way to wire the bumper to bumper track to reverse the car when the car reaches the end of the line? I was thinking of trying 2 Lionel 153IR's wired to the opposite ends of the track but was hoping someone may know if this is possible. Thank you in advance--- Jim

I think Dallee Electronics offers a reversing circuit board.
Z Stuff for trains also has a couple of automatic reversing units. I have one and it works great. Terry
Dallee does offer an AC trolley circuit board system #682. Requires a three position Electronic drive unit. Forward, Neutral, Reverse. Click on the underlined phrase to link. Here is a link to the install instructions. I installed the system on Tom's modules, Fort Pitt High Railers. We made it work at 8ft end to end, a little more length would be helpful. Review the install instructions for all the specifics. Once up and running, a very reliable system. At some of the shows the trolley would run all day with out any intervention.
Thank you everybody! This is great--- Jim
Another way to wire a dedicated trolley track is use DC and have reversing switches at each end to swap the polarity of the tracks. With this scheme, you just wire the motors directly to the track pickups.
