can I blow up a z1000 and controller?   I am moving my controllers to a new position.  Not the track, just the controller, just extending the wire to the controller to a new position.  Everything else stays the same.  I did something to break the first one - been trouble shooting more than i care to say.  I moved the second one and it worked fine.....now all of the sudden no power to that one.  What happened in between was I think i  accidentally crossed wires with the one not working and that one that was working. I subsequently undid the mistake and now the one that was working is not.  - not getting power

I guess my question is this.  If I missed wired something would it short to the point it would not work again or if I just undid the miswire should it be working again?

Hope that makes sense?   I will continue to trouble shoot just want to be sure I have done something that actually "broke" it.

Okay, I know that was a rambling mess.  I have narrowed my question.

I have two switches using the same power wire and the same common wire back to the power source.

Switch A works fine no problem.

Swtich  B has power to both the switch machine and the controller - both are lighted.  However, Switch b does nothing when depressing the controller.   I change out controller nothing still have lights but no switching.   I change machine and controller, both still have power - I can now go one direction but won't switch back.

So between 2 switch machines and 2 controllers, I can switch one direction.  Is there something I am missing or do i keep rotating switch machines?

This started as a 10 minute project to move a switch controller  and here I am hours later.

Would be helpful to know what kind of switches and controllers you are using and include pics.

If the switch machines are removable, I'd start by disconnecting them from the switch and seeing if the machines work in both directions; if so, there is probably a linkage problem in the switch.  It's also possible that the switch motors aren't wired correctly or that a wire has been broken or disconnected - test this by applying power to the posts that move it in one direction, then apply to the other posts.  Test the voltage at the switch machine when the button for each direction is pushed.

Process of elimination - try each process with each switch and check the voltage in each configuration.  Keep track of what you've tested until you find the combination that doesn't work.
