I have found cleaning my workbench is an ongoing problem.  I usually have 3 or 4 jobs going at any given time, and stopping to clean to a bare table top is not an option (just ain't happening).  What I have been doing with some success, is cleaning off tools that I am not using each time I finish a project or repair, and endeavor to put away one item each day that has no home.  You know the ones, parts you haven't sorted yet, a new tool you can't quite figure out where to store; the old transformer you hope one day to find a part for.  Amazingly, this appears to be working. While not whistle clean at any time, I always have a clear spot on the bench to work on, and after many months the pile is starting to shrink.  It's a wonderful thing, when you find something buried in the clutter that you forgot you had!

Spence,

I know how you feel! I'll be working in the shop tomorrow, and it's almost as bad as these photos. I'll organize a little in the morning while I'm waiting for the wood burner to heat the place up. My son has a five gallon bucket of sunnys from last week's ice fishing expedition, so they'll be going outside. I think he's saving them for bait?

That's just to prove that there actually is a work bench! I can clean mine from top to bottom, and in less time then it took for the good Lord to rise from the grave, it's a mess again.
