I have a few sets of Pere Marquette decals from Champ that I purchase about 15 years ago.  I want to repaint a locomotive and decal it for the Pere Marquette.

It has been a few years since I have done any repainting and decaling, and remember that the old decals gave me issues last time.  Should I spray them with a light clear coat 1st before I cut them and dip them in water?

Thanks

Or give them a coat of Microscale's Decal Film...

Decal Film Link

It's what I do to decal sets that come in the old wood/metal kits....Ambroid, Gloor, Quality Craft, etc..  Yes, it may leave more of a film witness than a fresh thin film decal, but some of these sets simply can't be replaced, or are too expensive to replicate.

Just a thought....it's what I do....works for me.

I am sure P&D Hobbies carries it. I will stop by there tomorrow and see!
