From WGH:
”UPDATE ON NEXT SEASON ON WGH SHOWS
Thank you for your past support of the World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour shows. Over 1.8 million people have attended the WGH shows and that would not have been possible without your support.
The Covid-19 health crisis has created an exceedingly difficult situation for event promoters. Most government jurisdictions and venues are not allowing large gatherings, hence most sporting events, concerts and trade shows have been cancelled. Given that our shows consistently have attendance in the 15,000 to 30,000 people range we are subject to some of the most severe restrictions.
Planning a WGH show take about 9 months of lead time. Since most venues don’t know what the actual requirements will be for “mass indoor gatherings”, they are unwilling to commit to hold a firm date. Even when such large events are permitted, we don’t know how long it will take for participation at events to return to normal. No one is sure whether or not there will be another wave of Covid-19 in the winter and if or when a vaccine or successful treatment will be available.
The WGH shows are a close up, hands on experience that is impossible to safely provide in a capacity limited social distancing environment.
For these reasons we have decided to postpone the 2021 WGH shows until 2022. We think it is the prudent thing to do for health and quality reasons. We will not sponsor a show unless we are certain we can protect the health and safety of the public and the exhibitors. We look forward to robust shows when we return in 2022.
While there will not be WGH shows until 2022, Train Show Inc. is planning to have both Greenberg Train Shows and Great Train Shows resume in 2020. You may want to consider Greenberg or Great Train Shows as an alternative while the WGH shows are on hiatus due to the uncertain health situation and its impact on very large events.“
