I was on Facebook this evening when i came upon this picture from the New York transit museum and wondered how many who like subway models would like a model like this of newer subway equipment?

Agree, 160's would move fast! Unfortunately, I may never see that day come. Someone correct me if I am wrong - give me hope
Question is - is this MTA's model? Looks amazing! Thanks for sharing.
Maybe MTH could come out with a sets like that down the road.
They would fly off the shelf !
Thanks, John
Its an MTA/manufacturer model @subwaydepot
I would buy one set.

Nice!
I'm down
It can't and won't be MTH. They lost their license to do anything MTA related that wasn't in the pipeline before and during the lawsuit.
Very sad, but true.
The model you are looking at is the builders model presented to the TA. It wound up in the a transit Museum.

Not quite true. They made the R142's, which came out long after they lost the license with the MTA. MTH simply can't use the MTA logos.

Actually, the lawsuit allowed for MTH to continue anything that was already in the planning stages, but nothing more, and not included logos. So the newer trains that were not part of projects already cannot be modeled by MTH, with or without logos.
The R142s were in the pipeline, albeit for a short time, but in planning none-the-less and that's why MTH could release them, twice.

How about the new R-33's, and the HO scale R-17's? They almost certainly weren't under development at the time of the lawsuit

Actually, there were quite a few items in the works before the lawsuit. The HO scale models fall under the previously produced as gauge was not mentioned. The R33s were in the works as the "Alternate" WF to the R36.
The R62, Slant R40 and others were all pre-lawsuit and in the works as well and didn't have the logo.
