I just got my Legacy control system back from Lionel. I think now though Lionel return a mislabeled the Y-cable to me. The connector labeled "Legacy" connects to the Legacy Base, no problem. However the connector labeled "Serial" is a male connector and my serial port is a male and the connector labeled for the TMCC base is a Female connector and my TMCC port is a Female connector. I hooked up the connectors the only way possible and Legacy Software Utility says COMM PORT OPEN and BASE CONNECTED. Could someone look at their cable and tell me what kind of connector is the Serial connector (Male or Female) and what kind of connector (Male or Female) is the TMCC connector?

Sounds to me like they are labeled backwards. I know the serial end (female) plugged right into my laptop and it has a male connector (laptop side) on it. Never used the TMCC end.
Mine (A recent V1.4 unit.) is labelled as follows:
Legacy Base - 9 pin male.
Command Base - 9 Pin male.
Serial/Comm - 9 pin female.
Nicole,
That makes sense and my version doesn't. I wonder how many went out the back door labeled like mine? As I said it makes you wonder......

Have you notified Lionel?
Marty,
No, I haven't contacted Lionel. Do you have phone number I can use to contact them?

586-949-4100. I would just let them know what you have found so they may have an idea if folks start calling in what the issue is.
