Hi Guys, a while back the steam locomotives of britain were being discussed here. One loco type I always really liked the look of was the 0-6-0 tanks that the US military brought to europe towards the end of world war two. Some were absorbed into the British National stock after the war and served on untill the 1960s in Southern England.
Many of them were also absorbed into the national rosters of many european countries after the war. Anyway heres an article on the UK ones. Don't know if many folk in the states are aware of this class of loco. They were built to the smaller than europe/smaller than US/ British loading gauge so that if required they'd be able to work in the UK before shipment to the european theatre once the invasion of europe began.
