I am from Pulaski, Virginia, way down in Southwest Virginia, and have railroaders on both sides of my family (my mother worked for N&W as a billing clerk during WWII, and I have a great-great uncle who was engineer on a passenger from Pulaski to Galax and back). I am wanting to build a copy of the Norfolk and Western yard office in Pulaski, Virginia.  I am looking for someone who has the Norfolk and Western standards book who may be able to supply the dimensions.  This building looks like it may be a standard style, maybe a former rural station.  If anyone can help, please do so.  If you have dimensions from a building that looks similar on a different road, let me know.

Thanks,

Scott

Looking at the picture. It features board and batten siding. You could just by eyeballing some details such as the windows and the the individual board witdths come up with a dimension for each. Say you have the board width at 10 inches. Just add up the amount of battens and you should come up with a pretty close overall dimension. You have a very clear picture to work from. The only questions are what’s not visible.

Check out Tichy Train Group for doors, windows and such. Northeast Scale Lumber for the siding and decking. The only tricky part of the build looks the cuppola. You may be limited as to what they have available. But the board and batten should be available in a multiple of widths.

I’m assuming you want to build this yourself to save some money. There are builders out there that will build it for you. Pretty  much using the same method of working from a picture. Unless they have access to the actual dimensions.
