Hey all,

Just wanted to follow up to Dorcie's post and let everyone know what our marketing / product development plan is, for this new product line we are creating. The goal is to create some really unique products available at two different price points; kit form and assembled, painted and weathered. We realize not everyone has the time to assemble a kit, hence the option for the built up, painted, weathered version.

I can tell you with certainty that our building kits share some similarity with Plasticville (meaning they have tabs and sockets to ensure the structure is assembled properly and in the correct order). We have built in as many modern building techniques as possible, using double-sided self adhesive as much as possible, which prevents the need for liquid adhesives, designing the kits to prevent the need for any complex aligning, clamping, etc.. Of course, we can tout all the advantages of our products over anyone else's, however, the real testament will be when the product ships and folks who have built them can chime in as to how they go together.

Everyone on the TW TrainWorx Traingineering team is really excited to get these kits shipped so you too can enjoy the feeling of successfully completing one of these easy to assemble kits. Even the coaling tower is a very simple kit to assemble, it has a lot more steps than the freight house, but the same ease of assembly. Just about every detail is laser cut from 1/32" acrylic, which is an extremely durable and very forgiving material to work with. Those who stopped by the booth at York may have seen me squeezing the railings on the coaling tower, showing how flexible they really are (one time I even joked with a fella about how the acrylic details were the perfect material for gorilla hands!) (I can see Mr. Whipple now; "Don't squeeze the Charmin")

One last note you may find interesting; all the windows on the freight house use a self adhesive backing, so when you apply them to the building there is no glue required! They simply press onto and adhere to the frosted window material behind the window opening! Additionally, all the windows come on a sheet of acrylic, which makes it super easy to paint all the windows at one time! (without the need for getting out masking tape, tack boards, etc.) Once the windows are painted, simply peel n stick! Super simple and very rewarding when completed.

Okay, enough boring you with gory details!

Best,
Mike

The roof does not come off, it is part of the inner wall assembly, the roof tabs into the inner walls to create a 5 sided box, if you will. The freight house floor inserts from the bottom, on a slight angle. This allows you to position details on the freiht house floor (to be seen through whatever doors you choose to place in the open position). The roof gets covered with gravel, so removing it would present its own set of challenges.

Now, if you are talking about creating an interior for the office space then chances are you are a skilled modeler who can undoubtably configure a modular floor that would also insert from the underside of the structure as well.

Hope this helps to answer your question.

thank you for the kind comments on the coaling tower!

Best,

Mike
