Ouch! Not the actress's fault though. The director should know or consult on any and all technical aspects.

She won't be holding the iron very long if it is plugged in.

A technology company I worked for developed a laser barcode reader. Marketing got up new ads. Unfortunately the picture had the reader and its red laser light "line" 90* to the barcode stripes! Guess marketing thought the new reader could scan up and down as well as its designed normal left-right scanning.
That hurts just looking at the picture! It hurts when I just touch my finger with the iron, never mind grabbing it!

She's gonna need a manicure for sure.....LOL
Well, after all it is also called a soldering "pencil...."

It's the kind of mistake you make once, but only once.

Well, close to home, when I was in college a hundred years ago, I did odd job electronic projects for the college psych labs. I asked my then fianc'ee to hand me the solder pencil. She did , by the tip end, and only briefly!!
Brings back the memory of chemistry lab when the young lady next to me placed her roll of paper towels too close to the Bunsen burner, said roll ignited so she attempted to douse the flames with the beaker full of boiling water, it didn't end well for her, the beaker or the paper towels.
Don't tell me this is what the intelligence level of our future employees is going to be. Where did all the common sense in humanity go?

Ive done that! ONCE and only ONCE! Just like Alan said! LOL!!! I went pinging around my kitchen like a pinball, never mind all the word that you only find in the urban dictionary!!!
She must think she's not hot enough or something
The solder pads are also on the other side of the board; I noticed that first to be honest. Even if a piece to be removed was hung up, I'd usually have the board vertical with a sucker on the bottom; even as is, braid in the other hand.
Should have gave her a meter

It may be sexist to say so, but what percentage of women of any age do you think have ever used a soldering iron? And within that population, what percentage of models have used one?

Or even how many people in general know how to solder??? My guess is that it's very few.
My first glance and I focused on the wedding ring on her other hand, then I saw the details.
Kind of everything looks wrong in that as an ad for electronic repair.
So that's how they get all those cold solder joints!!!!!

Quite a few people that I've met over the years that claim they know how to solder.............. after observing them in action.............., well, let's just say, they know how to MELT solder anyway.
I bet itSmells life pork rinds.
I use to wrap buss wire the same size as solder around a roll of solder with a straight piece coming off. It was great when someone tried use the solder and tin the tip. The buss wire gets very hot
I- Is that a chemical lab....?
It's worse than I thought... /s
But, seriously, what was the intended purpose of this advertisement, if you can even call it that?
Any sensible person would call this a warning, just hang it up in a lab with big letters pasted on it, warning of the dangers of being a pinhead.
Could be they just wanted a funny shot too.
I'm worried she decides to give it a shot now.
Makes you want to warn everyone involved in the shot really 🤣
"we laugh because it hurts to much to cry"
The funny thing is I looked at the photo for a while and just never noticed her hand placement.
Heck, I'll be 50 this fall and I used a soldering iron for the first time when I laid track on my layout in 2014. Before that, I just never had the need to use one for anything.
Some people (like myself) never learn, though. Seems that most of the times I had to solder wiring under the club layout I was wearing short pants. Needless to say that it seemed the only time solder dripped was when I was wearing shorts.
