Yes Paul! , Model Trains, Flannel shirts and warm New England cellars are the stuff of happy contentment...I agree completely!
Bob
Definitely. And you look like you're having lots of fun, Paul. Must be why so many of us return to the hobby after living our other lives. But, it's not just nostalgia. It's just a truly satisfying hobby in which you can find your own interests and exhibit your own talents.

I can't think of a better Hobby. Let's all all of us enjoy Trains for a long time to come!

Paul, That's a good looking RR with nice scenery and some good switching too. I like that round crane support built into the edge of the embankment. Pictures are fun and I appreciate seeing yours.
Bob
Paul, you have a very special layout. Get you pics and construction details to Allan Miller. I would love to see this in the OGR magazine.
You do get to old for hot rods and motorcycles to my great dismay. Model trains are the perfect hobby when that happens.
San Fernando Valley CA.
Its a lot easier to buy stuff for that future layout than to build it.
Paul,
Your layout isn't overly complex, but it sure packs in a lot of elements to look fantastic. Great job and thanks for sharing with us.

Very nice layout Paul. It is great to see new and interesting work displayed by "mature" and experienced folks with the Forums's easier photo practices. I am but a few days from 80, a little wobbly at times and shaky most all the time, but keep on keeping on. Back to work on my new, and small, attic layout after a long layoff since 2/10 for health issues.
Had to dismantle my two older and fairly large layouts in recent years, ['08 and '09]. Difficult experience to destroy after working on and enjoying one for 15 years[mountain cottage] and the other[Condo] for 11 years.
Hope to soon get some work done and photos posted of my current simplistic round-the-room operation. Thanks for sharing your layout.
Hey, Dewey,
Thanks for the kind words. You're WAY up on my heroes list by being undaunted in your layout building. I've taken down three major HO layouts over the past 30 years and will most likely take this one down within a year or so. Always hard to do, period. But as long as we can remember how nice our layouts were, we will always be able to "play with trains" whenever we close our eyes and dream.
Keep laying those rails!
Paul, you have a really nice layout. I like to see some 2-rail layouts once in awhile. Sort of reminds me of photos of the Delta Lines when I was a young guy.
Cobrabob.
Frank Ellison's Delta Lines was a terrific layout. Here's a link to a PDF article he wrote in Model Railroader; "The Art of Model Railroading." It's considered to be one of the finest explorations/explanations of the attractions of this hobby, and how to keep your interest up by doing operations.

It's a six part article, but man, what a great read. What an interesting character he was!
Paul...I'm also a long time fan in what Frank wrote and the lessons it provided. Your railroad would interest Frank I'm sure. Good job!
Bob
An exciting layout every where one looks, Paul. Handsome scenes. Wrapping yourself in that layout once you are in that room must feel like another world. Congratulations on your continued success at having such creative fun with your layout.
Frank
Thanks for your perceptive and most kind comments about my layout, Frank. Hey, your avatar pic shows a great layout behind you. Is that yours? If so, bravo.
Paul
Yes, Paul, that's the getting-too-heavy me sitting in front of part of my layout, saluting you and my other fellow-hobbyists who love to mess around w/ their layouts.
Thanks for the compliment!

Hi, Lou,
My minimum radius is 24-inches. I can only run switchers and 40-foot cars. I hid the sharp radii, either with tunnels or cuts in hillsides.
I sure wish I could have better radii, but the room size limits me. So, no GP-7's or 50-footers. Just the little stuff.
Best,
Paul
Guys, I have been honored to see Paul's layout in person and watch it in motion. It is truly a work of art.
Paul, I'm with Dave Allen on this one, you really should contact OGR about a article.
Paul,
Very nice work, I really enjoy your photos!
Thanks for sharing.
