I went to buy some trains yesterday and among the items was a Z4000. Three sets of output terminals were OK but the pair that were controlled by the right handle were dead. The transformer had been unused for more than 10 years. Are these transformers difficult to work on? Anything I should look for? at this point I did not buy it

First thing to look for is if the Circuit protector for that output is popped They are in the rear of the z4k and can be identified as being popped from the white color being out. Just push it in if so and repower
Blueline I tried that and the circuit breakers were fine.
